The 12-Month Palace Wedding Timeline
Month-by-month: what to lock when, from save-the-dates to silver thalis.
Palace weddings break the standard 'six-month wedding planning' rule. The good palaces sell out 12–18 months ahead in peak season; the good planners and photographers, even further. Here is the calendar that actually works.
Month 12–10: Lock the palace
Visit 3 palaces in one trip. Compare written quotes (not verbal). Sign with the one whose contract is cleanest, not whose lawn is prettiest. Pay the 25% retainer.
Month 10–8: Lock the planner and photographer
These two vendors set the quality ceiling for the entire wedding. Both are typically booked 12 months out for peak dates. Spend the money — it's the line item couples regret cheaping out on most often.
Month 8–6: Décor, catering tasting, save-the-dates
Décor proposals from 3 vendors (palace-empanelled + 1 outside). Catering tasting at the palace itself. Save-the-dates out 6 months before the wedding — guests need to book international flights.
Month 6–4: Outfits, jewellery, makeup trials
First fittings now, second fittings at month 2. Bridal makeup trials with at least 2 artists. Jewellery from family vaults inventoried and insured for transit.
Month 4–2: Permits, logistics, RSVP chase
Fireworks permit (21 days for aerial in most states). Drone DGCA clearance. Guest transport plan, room allocation sheet, welcome hampers. The boring 60 days.
Month 2–0: Final walkthrough, vendor confirmations, breathe
Final palace walkthrough at month 1, vendor confirmations at week 2, family briefing at week 1. Then show up and be the couple — your planner runs the wedding from here.
